windows phone 7 os and evolution of design

I m not a great mind to comment expertly on matters of design, design itself being a higly specialized and complicated subject, but i just wish to speak my mind on the design of user interface of windows phone 7 and how it might be a step in evolution of interface design not limited only to the digital arena.

We called iphone UI an excellent design but there is hardly any innovation in that, its very similar to a normal desktop. Whatever mobile OS we talk about, symbian, android, ios or anything else its all same design. the same icons spread over the screen. There is hardly any innovation in that.

I am one of those people who are highly impressed by the design of the windows phone 7, and microsoft coming up with such an excellent design was bit of a shock i have to agree. The fact is design of the windows phone 7 will not be limited just to the mobile UI, i think the design has wider implications. Websites, books, magazines , billboards or sign boards everything where design is applied will be borrowing highly from this design. This is actually a new evolution in design sensibility. The same way there is a difference between web 1.0 and web 2.0, the designs in 2.0 are all smooth edged with lighter and softer colors. I think this is going to change, because in future we are all going to heavily borrow from the design sensibility of windows phone 7 os. We will have brighter colors, tiled interfaces, bigger fonts.
