Kinect coming to windows, is it needed?

Microsoft said that its bringing the kinect, the gesture based gaming interface from its xbox to all windows system, which means you will be able to control your pc like the guys in minority report.
Nobody really thought that a new input system is required for gaming until the Nintendo guys came up with wii. All the console makers were thinking nothing beyond the traditional joystick. I personally have never found joystick a comfortable gaming input device, i think the traditional keyboard works best with all games. But wii's controller is certainly were excellent when it comes to sport based games. Anyway we need to evolve and we thank nintendo for that.
Microsoft's kinect allows to communicate with the device by reading gestures of the user through a webcam. Already smart TV's are coming up with gesture based control instead of remote. Thou i think remote is still a more comfortable device when changing channels or adjusting the volume, i certainly wont take the trouble to wave hand at the tv. But gestures would work when more innovate or complex process is involved.
We are using touch technology on various devices since a long time and it has become very efficient over the time, still we are not having them on pc's the reason is that its simply not required, its simply uncomfortable to raise your hand and touch a monitor, the keyboard and mouse is all that we will need. I dont really understand making gestures at your pc when you are sitting with a mouse and keyboard, there is hardly any use of it, unless our applications and usages evolve into something else.
Anyway we should welcome everything, and everything should be tried, if it works or not is altogether a different matter.
