Vodafone has launched the second phone after the vodafone facebook phone, so as i said earlier this trend of bundling phone is catching on, and its here to stay. Vodafone has been doing this from the very beginning as far as i can remember, but they were all basic phones; now as the target is on Data, new 3g phones are being launched with the objective of increasing data volumes.
Vodafone smart is an android 2.2.1 phone, with a snap dragon S1 processor, comes bundled with local apps and games, it has all the regular features like wifi, bluetooh, 32gb expandable sd card memory, 2MP camera. Only draw back is that i find the phone ugly.
We have seen how Idea had launched the phones recently, and had predicted this to become a regular trend among operators. It makes sense to offer cheap 3g capable phones to increase data usage plus its certain that the operator makes a good margin itself, these operators might just be eating into the market of mobile marketing companies like micromax and karbonn.
If this trend catches on then may be it will lead to contract pricing like the ones they have in US and some other western countries, as reliance has seen it in its earlier stages that recoveries could be tricky, but if the contract pricing is rolled out slowly then may be it wont be that hard and it could be a reality in years to come.
